Well I promised a post Melbourne post to show my wares, and to prove that I spent my money on more than just amazing coffee, "entertainment" and (grrr) my emergency flight home (Thank you, Tiger-Bloody Airlines).
Remember a few posts back (here: http://blessthisdress.blogspot.com/2011/03/autumn-falls-stocking-up-in-melbourne.html) I planned what I would buy in Melbourne so that I wouldn't go bonkers at the first sign of vintage boots? Well, I went bonkers anyway - BUT I'm pleased to stay I managed to stick somewhat to 'The Plan'. Please excuse all terrible photos I've taken with my Iphone, in Melbourne friends (who took me in) bathrooms and bedrooms!
In the former post - I specified that I wanted boots. Good ones. Thanks to Wittner, I got some that not only were gorgeous - but actually fit my ridiculous child size feet. I love that they're slightly Pirate/Steam Punk-esque and they are so damn comfortable.
Wittner boots |
Running with the accessories theme I also found a few hats that I love (you may start to notice how 1970's London my look is starting to become as we go through these...)
Brown felt hat from Dotti |
My mum, marrying my Dad in a hat in 1973. |
Black Cloche hat (not exactly the same as this one) from Dangerfield |
I also bought a fair few scarves - they were all along these colour lines and most were silk.
I developed an obsession over the past 2 years with pussy-bow blouses and shirts. I used to go for the more 1940's style of blouse but now I'm favouring (surprise!) the more 70's look.
Me in my Gertrude Street vintage, mustard stripe pussy-bow shirt, high waist shorts and Tiger-tights (bought online) |
Then there were the coats... oh my goodness there were coats. I may have overdone it a bit by buying 2 beautiful Dangerfield/Princess Highway coats. This brings my total coat-count up to 14. In a town where it is cold about 2 months of the year. Where my Scottish blood means I don't really feel the cold anyway. Oops.
Green Gables coat by Dangerfield - I adore this colour |
Me, in black Dangerfield hat and "Sound of Music" Princess Highway coat (burgundy) from Dangerfield |
I may have also bought self indulgent jewellery...
I'm a Geek at heart - Pow Batman ring from Dangerfield |
I can't possibly photograph everything I bought and post it (well I could but I do want to) but suffice to say there was plenty more - including:
an incredibly girly chiffon dress from Forever New - that I wear with ripped stockings, combat boots and a leather jacket;
A brown leather jacket (list item!)
2 very mini mini skirts (one teal, one olive green),
a pale grey fringed top (I love it but it gets caught in EVERYTHING),
a great LBD by Revival from the Revival/Dangerfiele/Alannah Hill outlet store for $10,
2 more gorgeous vintage dresses in beautiful fabric from an amazing vintage shop on Gertrude street, in Brunswick...
and a whole bunch of these:
I love you Degraves Street... |
Dear Melbourne - I'll be back! (and this time I'll bring an even bigger suitcase)
